On Christmas day 1976, four-month-old Katie received only one gift from her parents: the infant-sized BYU hoodie that sealed her fate. Katie grew up dreaming of following her dad and grandparents to BYU, and 23 years after that first Christmas she graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Communications. Katie then worked for Provo-based Morinda Inc. as a communications manager for several years before she left the workforce to raise her family. In 2021, her daughter and three sons mostly grown, Katie once again felt the pull of BYU and returned to campus as an employee, joining the Office of Belonging in 2024. Katie loves serving family dinners, gathering her loved ones to celebrate pretty much anything, and going outside every chance she gets. The daughter of generations of seafarers but born and raised in Utah Valley, Katie carries the mountains in her heart and the ocean in her soul.
