BYU Community Legal Clinic

The BYU Office of Belonging, in partnership with the J. Reuben Clark Law School (BYU Law) is excited to announce a new opportunity for interested students to support the work of the BYU Community Legal Clinic. Staffed by law students and legal practitioners, the Clinic serves our community by providing free legal services to those in need. To meet current needs, the Clinic now seeks student volunteers interested in gaining legal experience, especially in immigration law. No prior experience is required, but those with fluency in Spanish translation are especially encouraged to apply.

During Spring and Summer Terms, the Clinic will operate from the last week of April through the first week of August 2026. Interested students must commit to attend the Clinic every Thursday from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Office of Belonging (WSC 2400). During the first three weeks of Spring Term, students are expected to volunteer for an average of 5 hours a week (including mandatory trainings and time spent at the legal clinic). After the first three weeks, students will assist for 3-5 hours a week.

Under the supervision of law students and law professors, these students will gain experience in immigration law and the provision of legal services by working directly with clients to collect and verify information required for immigration law documents. They will also gain important experience practicing gospel-centered principles of belonging as they engage in Christlike service with their brothers and sisters.
